If I were…
As I told you in class, I wanted to set an example of a song that contained a typical conditional sentence, but I finally changed my mind. I know I had suggested If I were a boy by Beyoncé, but I’ve finally changed my mind. Most of you have probably never heard this piece of music from the 60’s musical Fiddler on the roof, but when we are dealing with this grammar point, these are the lyrics that I keep on remembering: If I were a richman…
Now, what about your own suggestions? I’m sure you can think of other songs which have this kind of structure. However, if you can’t , you might want to share your ideas on the things you would like to do if you were a rich man or woman…

If I were a rich man I would buy an island and I would stay on the beach all day.
If I were a richman I would have an expensive car like Audi TT. I would travel around the world, because I want to visit China or India. I would live in a really big house or in a castle.
Finally I would help poor people.
If I were a rich a man I would bet all my money on the red seven in a casino.
If I were a rich woman I would buy a flat in the center of the city and I would travel around the world.
If I were rich…
I would buy a very big house with a very big garden, near the sea in a very sunny place. I would travel around the world, but first to Egypt and Greece. I would stop working and I would dedicate myself to writing books and stories. I would have spare time to learn foreign languages and to play instruments.
If I were a rich man,I’d give money to poor people to try to help them.
If I were a rich man,I’d buy a house in Greece, because I like this country very much.
If I were a rich man,I’d rebuild my parents house to give them a bigger house.
If I were a rich man,I’d travel to a lot of countries that I’ d like to know.
If I were a rich man,I’d stop working.
If I were a rich man,I’d visit all my family that live far.
If I were a rich man,I’d pay people from another countries to speak to me in their language.
If I were a rich man,I’d change my car for a better one.
If I were a rich woman, the first thing, I’d retire my father so that he wouldn’t return to work, and I’d give money to all my family, my brothers, my sister-in-law my nephew and my niece, my parentes-in-law, my neighbours… all the people that need the money. I’d give up my job and would buy a big house with a big garden. If I were a rich woman I would have many children and would give them the best things.
If I were a rich woman I would travel around the world, and I would buy a very big house in the beach and another in the city and a good car, also I would help poor people a lot, for example, building some schools, hospitals, and also houses.
If I were a rich girl I would buy a house near Bondy Beach in Australia because I would love to live there. I would buy a nice surfboard too and I would go there each summer to do surfing all day and to practise English too obviously.
And finally, the most important, I would save money and I would help poor people giving them food, building houses, hospitals and schools for children.
When I was thinking about songs with this kind of structure, one title came to my mind: If I was your mother, a song by Bon Jovi.
Here is the link to the youtube video if you want to enjoy this song:
If I were a rich girl, I would travel around the world, and I would meet lots of people, and help the ones who need that money more than me.
If I were a rich woman, I would travel around the world, I would buy a big car and I would buy a small house in Los Alpes.
If I were a rich man, I would invest some of my money and I would live on its profit, I think I would share the rest with my family.

If I were a rich woman, I wouldn’t know what to do, so many things that I do not know where to start
